In the summer of 2020 I was approached to design the kit for the London Volta team and FIFA 21. Part of the work included a trip to London to meet players and the gaffer, Ian Wright where I made a short video to use on my socials. The team included a list of influencers and YouTubers made up of: Street Panna, Ben Brown, Elz The Witch, Timbsy, and LDN Movement. Below are some visuals of the team in the kit, as well as images of how it looks in-game.
The aim was to create a shirt that represents London whilst also being eye-catching and fitting a 5-a-side team. We stuck with the Black/Red colourway from last years kit and built from there, later adding in some aqua to contrast the base. The background features a graphic pattern of the Thames, the idea was to take an aspect of London without making it cheesy which I think we accomplished well. The geometric shapes represent the hustle and bustle of London which break up the colours of the shirt, it’s not something you see on a usual 11-a-side kit and really fits the narrative we were aiming for. We finally added in some grunge patterns to add texture to the red, rather than keeping it plain.
Definitely the biggest project I’ve been apart of and something I’ll never forget.
